We are looking for an Academy Sport Scientist to be responsible for the sport science provision within the professional development phase. You will be entrusted with collecting, interpreting data, and maintaining/developing databases that align with our Academy through to our Men’s First Team.
In this exciting role, you’ll be optimising player potential by enhancing availability, maximising physical performance, and mitigating the risk of injury. You will be embedded in a multidisciplinary team and will work collaboratively with multiple colleagues to optimise health, development, and performance of our Academy players.
Responsibilities
* Oversee load management – handle external and internal load monitoring (GPS/HR) and reporting, and appropriately plan and periodise training loads on a team and individual basis.
* Manage fatigue and performance profiling – responsible for neuromuscular fatigue monitoring, reporting and insights, as well as physical performance profiling.
* Uphold our high standards – maintain and develop current databases, service and maintain technology (hardware and software) to uphold a culture of excellence.
* Deliver detailed matchday preparations – lead sport science matchday provision.
* Contribute to player reviews – provide impactful input into micro and mesocycle and individual player reviews.
* Prioritise development and recovery – support with physical development sessions (prep and gym) and assist with rehabilitation of players and deliver recovery sessions where appropriate.
* Champion the growth of the department – commit to ongoing research, development and innovation to stay ahead of the curve.
* Act as an ambassador for our club – maintain child protection, health, safety and equal opportunities procedures, and adhere to confidentiality.
Qualifications & Experience
* Background in elite sport with verifiable record of implementing sport science services within an elite sporting environment.
* Credible expertise – MSc degree in Sport Science or Strength and Conditioning (or equivalent) and CASES accreditation.
* Experience maintaining critical databases – extensive database management and development history.
* Exceptional collaborator – able to integrate into and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
