Purpose of the Role
Provide leadership and management within the Safeguarding Team, ensuring statutory compliance, high-quality social work practice, and effective support for children, young people, and families. Oversee a team of social workers and practitioners, promoting professional development, performance management, and improved safeguarding outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Line manage a team of social workers and practitioners, providing supervision, support, and performance management.
* Promote reflective practice and professional development within the team.
* Ensure effective workforce planning, resource allocation, and caseload management.
* Oversee complex safeguarding cases, providing guidance and decision-making support.
* Ensure statutory timescales are met for assessments, interventions, and reviews.
* Maintain high standards of social work practice in line with legislation and local policies.
* Lead on safeguarding concerns, ensuring prompt and appropriate interventions.
* Support child protection conferences, strategy meetings, and other multi-agency safeguarding forums.
* Monitor risk and provide professional advice to mitigate harm to children and young people.
* Monitor, evaluate, and report on team performance, service outcomes, and statutory compliance.
* Implement audits, case reviews, and improvement plans as needed.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, health services, police, voluntary organisations, and other stakeholders.
* Represent the team in senior management and partnership meetings.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent recognised qualification).
* Registration with Social Work England.
* Substantial post-qualification experience in children's social care, including safeguarding and child protection.
* Proven experience supervising and managing social work teams.
