The PLM Consultant will operate as a Use Case Lead within a major PLM transformation programme, supporting the design, refinement, and adoption of new PLM capabilities across the business. This role is business‑facing rather than technical and involves interpreting requirements, engaging stakeholders, shaping backlogs, and ensuring successful functional delivery across PLM capability areas such as Documents, Requirements, PDP, Classification and MBSE.
You will act as a business proxy where internal resources are limited, ensuring each capability area is fully understood, documented, prioritised, and aligned with programme objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Requirements & Backlog Leadership
Lead requirement gathering with business users and SMEs
Translate requirements into clear user stories, functional specifications and acceptance criteria
Own and manage the use‑case backlog for assigned PLM capability areas
Shape sprint goals and support Agile delivery cycles
Stakeholder Coordination & Alignment
Facilitate collaboration between business stakeholders, SMEs, solution architects and programme leadership
Represent your capability area in design reviews, dependency mapping and alignment sessions
Identify gaps between current processes and future state designs, supporting business alignment and process harmonisation
Functional Delivery Support
Support testing, validation and UAT activities to ensure delivered functionality meets business expectations
Support Show & Tell sessions, business readiness activities, sandbox testing and training content inputs
Help drive user adoption and promote new PLM ways of working
Data, Documentation & Governance
Identify any data migration needs related to your capability area
Ensure documentation remains clear, structured and up to date
Support compliance with programme governance and delivery standards
Skills & Experience
Essential
Strong PLM background with experience supporting business-facing PLM workstreams
Proven experience gathering requirements, writing user stories, and defining functional specifications
Experience coordinating cross‑functional stakeholders (engineering, operations, quality, manufacturing)
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear business terms
Experience supporting UAT, validation and functional testing cycles
Comfortable leading workshops, discussions and requirement walkthroughs
Proficiency with Jira, Confluence or similar tools
Desirable
Experience with Teamcenter or other major PLM systems
Exposure to MBSE, digital thread concepts or engineering system methodologies
Understanding of organisational change management principles
Experience working in large-scale transformation programmes
