Howden - Corporate & Commercial are on the hunt for a Commercial Account Handler to join the team in Edinburgh. In this relationship focused position, you will be responsible for managing and renewing existing client policies, new business and working alongside Account Executives.

Join us and be part of a team dedicated to providing outstanding service to our clients. We promote personal and professional growth. This is a full-time, permanent position with the option to work 2 days per week in our Edinburgh office for a balanced work experience.

Overview:

1. Regularly monitoring renewals and new business activity to aid effective planning and resourcing

2. Review client documentation to ensure comprehensive and accurate information is presented for the quoting process

3. Collate and communicate client requirements to ensure appropriate marketing of the risk

4. Liaise with clients to resolve queries and respond to market and third-party queries as appropriate

5. Produce high-quality market documentation, securing appropriate authorisations

6. Process data promptly and accurately on relevant systems to support client service and internal processes

7. Maintain accurate and timely documentation for clients, ensuring proper organisation of records.

8. Conduct due diligence/sanctions checks in line with company procedures

9. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and obtain required authorisations

10. Foster and nurture positive relationships with colleagues and external contacts

11. Provide support and assistance to senior colleagues and/or their clients on request

12. Deal with or refer client enquiries, renewals, and mid-term adjustments

Knowledge:

13. Working knowledge of all the main classes of General Insurance and the CII’s Code of Ethics and GDPR

14. Knowledge of motor trade insurance or High Net Worth within motor insurance is desirable

15. Acturis Knowledge is essential

Skills:

16. Good level of technical insurance skills, to be assessed by regular in-house testing

17. Accuracy and attention to detail

18. Ability to process work quickly and efficiently

19. Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines

20. Excellent client service skills

21. Good negotiation and broking skills

22. Excellent oral and written communication skills

23. Ability to gather and analyse information from the client

24. Ability to identify and respond appropriately to an individual client’s level of understanding

25. Ability to persuade and influence others

Qualifications:

26. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a commercial account handling role

27. Cert CII ( desirable)
