Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our busy, well-established urology team at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in this specialty, the post holder will work alongside a team of urology clinicians to support the service in triaging and accepting referrals from both primary and secondary care, utilising and developing urology pathways to enhance both the patient experience and flow throughout the service.
Role and Responsibilities
* Undertake thorough clinical assessment and identify and request appropriate investigations to reach a diagnosis; be confident in initiating a treatment pathway individualized to the patient’s needs.
* This may be as an inpatient within the acute setting or on an outpatient basis by following local ambulatory care pathways and/or the newly developed virtual review ward.
* Contribute to service development and improvement where input is encouraged.
* Support the junior doctor team in documenting in patients’ medical records and undertake tasks requested as part of the patient review.
* Prioritise and delegate tasks to reflect strong leadership skills.
* Work autonomously to provide a high-quality, safe and supportive clinical service, while maintaining standards outlined in the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England.
* Demonstrate a professional portfolio evidencing the four pillars of advanced clinical practice and develop progression within the role.
Clinical Skills and Competence
* Clinical skills such as venepuncture, cannulation, catheterization and obtaining arterial blood gases are part of common practice.
* Identify a deteriorating patient and act swiftly to stabilise them and manage effectively in an emergency with appropriate support.
Education, Leadership and Professional Practice
* Collaborate with the junior doctors, medical and nursing students; identify and develop own learning needs to broaden knowledge and expand clinical skills.
* Act as a role model, educator and mentor to develop confidence in others and respond to individuals’ motivation; facilitate teaching sessions as needed for individuals or groups.
* Contribute to departmental learning and participate in appraisal and feedback to develop service quality and effectiveness.

Clinical Practice
1. Practice in compliance with the respective code of professional conduct and within scope of professional practice; take responsibility and accountability for all decisions, actions, and omissions.
2. Provide thorough and accurate assessment of presenting symptoms, medical history, clinical examination findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate differential diagnoses.

4. Escalate clinical concerns promptly and seek help from the senior clinical team when needed.
