We are now seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Director of Sport to lead and develop our sports provision across all school sites. The successful candidate will bring strategic leadership, high professional standards, and a genuine commitment to ensuring all pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs have access to inclusive and aspirational sporting opportunities. Due to the nature of the role, some evening and weekend commitments will be required for coaching, fixtures, and tournaments. The role will involve working across our main site (SO51 6ZR) and an additional Hub in Hampshire within a reasonable commuting distance. Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership for the Sports Department and PE curriculum across all school sites.
* Support, mentor, and performance‑manage coaching and PE staff to ensure consistently high-quality, inclusive provision.
* Develop a broad and engaging extra‑curricular sports programme.
* Create adaptive learning environments that meet the diverse needs of all pupils.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate vocational learning and wider curriculum opportunities.
* Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and pupil wellbeing through sport.
* Carry out professional duties of a qualified teacher, in line with the Teachers' Standards.
Qualifications
* Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), with substantial experience teaching PE.
* Is reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
* Has successful experience inspiring and engaging young people in physical education.
* Demonstrates experience of working effectively with children with SEMH needs.
* Communicates clearly and with empathy, modelling calm and consistent practice.
* Can build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, families, and external sporting partners.
* Has secure skills in English, Mathematics, and ICT.
* Is passionate about the transformative power of sport in young people's lives.
* Thrives within a collaborative, supportive team environment.
