Band 5 Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics and Recovery
Location: Kidderminster Treatment Centre Elective Surgical Hub, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

Overview
We are looking for experienced Anaesthetics and Recovery Practitioners (ODPs/RNs) to join our dynamic team at the Kidderminster Treatment Centre, operating four modern theatres and advanced treatment rooms. The role is part of a countywide theatre service and will support activity across sites as required.

Responsibilities
As a Band 5 Anaesthetic and Recovery Practitioner, you will:
* Prepare theatre environment, equipment and instruments, ensuring infection control and safety standards.
* Assist the surgical and anaesthetic teams during operations (scrub, circulating, or anaesthetic practitioner duties).
* Monitor patient condition before, during and after surgery and respond promptly to changes.
* Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with professional and Trust requirements.
* Support team leaders in staff performance and teamwork management.
* Report incidents, accidents and near‑misses promptly and participate in risk assessment and improvement initiatives.
* Participate in on‑call rotas or out‑of‑hours duties as required.
Person Specification
Experience
* Team‑based perioperative experience.
* Competent to assist anaesthetists and scrub for a wide range of elective and emergency patients.
* Clinical supervision experience.
* Recovery of a wide range of elective and emergency patients.
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (NMC) or Registered ODP (HCPC).
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Assessor Qualification.
* Perioperative Diploma or Degree.
Other Requirements
* Enhanced Disclosure clearance.
* Excellent attendance and time‑keeping.
* Willing to work across hospital sites as required.
* Ability to work rotating shift patterns (day, evening, night, 7 days a week) and on‑call duties.
* Ready to deputise for the team leader when necessary.
Skills & Knowledge
* Current peri‑operative practice awareness.
* Incident reporting systems (Datix).
* Relevant anatomy and physiology knowledge.
* Excellent verbal, literacy and communication skills.
* Accurate documentation and computer literacy (Word, Email).
* Understanding of manual handling, health and safety, clinical governance.

Salary
£32,073 to £39,043 per year (Agenda for Change Band 5).
