This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Construction Manager to join a highly respected, employee-owned contractor delivering prestigious education and heritage projects across Oxfordshire, with a clear pathway to Director level.
This long-established turnkey contractor specialises in delivering refurbishment and new build projects for private schools, colleges and universities, including historic and listed buildings. With a reputation built over generations, the business prides itself on quality, long-standing client relationships and a family-feel working environment. As part of continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Construction Manager who can become a key figure within the organisation.
In this role, you will be split between the office and site, overseeing multiple projects across Oxford and the surrounding area. You will be heavily involved in pre-contract planning, programming, subcontractor management and client liaison, while working closely with Directors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, to programme and to the highest standard. There is genuine scope for this role to develop into a Director position and, ultimately, to help run the business.
With that, the ideal candidate will have experience managing traditional construction projects, strong leadership skills and the confidence to work directly with clients, consultants and subcontractors. Experience within education or historic buildings would be highly beneficial, although any gaps can be supported.

The Role:
1. Pre-contract involvement including tender programming and interviews
2. Programming and planning of projects from start to finish
3. Subcontractor management, progress meetings and performance reviews
4. Document control, RAMS review and H&S compliance
5. Regular site and client meetings across Oxfordshire
6. Supporting business development and long-term growth plans
The Person:
7. Strong experience within the construction industry
8. Proven experience managing teams and delivering projects
9. Strong background in traditional building and JCT contracts
10. Experience working for an SME
11. Based within commutable distance of Oxford
