We are looking for a detail-focused Personal Tax Associate to prepare timely tax returns for individuals. This is a technical role with no-client facing responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to develop specialist expertise while working as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
You will support the smooth running and continued growth of the business through the following key areas:
Tax Return Preparation:
* Prepare personal tax returns for a variety of individuals, including income from employment, self-employment, property, and investments
* Calculate liabilities, prepare supporting schedules, and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
* Review financial data provided by colleagues to ensure accuracy and completeness
Compliance and Quality Control:
* Ensure personal tax returns are completed accurately and within statutory deadlines
* Keep up to date with HMRC guidance, tax legislation, and reporting requirements
* Apply quality control measures before submission for review
Team Collaboration:
* Work with colleagues across accounts and bookkeeping teams to obtain necessary information
* Escalate queries or complex cases to senior colleagues or the Client Portfolio Lead
* Contribute to maintaining complete and accurate tax records in internal systems
Process Improvement:
* Assist in streamlining workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy
* Support the adoption of best practice in tax compliance and software usage
To be successful you will have:
* AAT Level 4 qualified, ATT part-qualified, or equivalent experience
* Proven experience working in personal tax within an accountancy practice
* Good knowledge of UK personal tax compliance and reporting requirements
* Proficiency in tax/accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* A proactive, methodical approach and ability to meet deadlines
