About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and proactive 1:1 Support Staff member to work across welcoming primary schools in Leeds.
In this role, you will provide tailored, consistent support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and thrive both academically and emotionally in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language needs, SEMH)
2. Support academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and social development
3. Implement tailored strategies and interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
4. Use positive, calm and consistent behaviour management approaches
5. Encourage independence, engagement, and confidence in all classroom activities
6. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
7. Communicate effectively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals where required
Requirements
8. Experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school or similar setting (essential)
9. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
10. Strong relationship-building skills with children and staff
11. Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
12. Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA, SEN training, or equivalent experience)
13. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
