Credit Manager – Property Development Finance

Role Purpose:
As a Credit Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the credit quality of new loans presented to the Company using the Company’s Credit Models and Policies, ensuring lenders do not take undue risk with their capital. To succeed, you will need extensive development finance knowledge and experience.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to a Sanction Limit within the Company’s sanctioning matrix.
2. Assist the Head of Credit in developing and recommending commercial loan objectives, policies, and practices, establishing internal controls and procedures for Board approval.
3. Ensure all new Credit reports comply with the Company’s Credit Policies and guidelines.
4. Report and recommend actions to the Head of Credit on any exceptions via the response tracker.
5. Advise on concentration risks and suggest mitigants for new business opportunities.
6. Identify policy, process, and procedure shortcomings and recommend improvements.
7. Stay informed on current rates, activities, and regulatory issues, incorporating them into sanctioning decisions.
8. Ensure day-to-day risk controls are followed.
9. Conduct pre-application discussions with Relationship Directors to assess appetite.
10. Participate in Deal Forum and Borrower Review Forum meetings.
11. Respond to pricing requests within SLA.
12. Review Sighting Papers and Credit Reports, ensuring they meet criteria or suggest alternatives.
13. Respond to lender questions via the website Q&A.
14. Liaise with Deal team to ensure timely loan progression to drawdown.
15. Verify all loan agreements for compliance before release.
16. Ensure all conditions precedent are met before loan drawdown.
17. Participate in departmental meetings to enhance credit knowledge.
18. Monitor post-deal activities, including tranche drawdowns, updates, and sales proceeds.
19. Undertake lender votes, provide redemption figures, and loan statements.
20. Attend client meetings as appropriate.
21. Provide training and support for new relationship staff.
Skills & Knowledge Required:
* Extensive property development funding credit experience.
* Ability to make informed decisions on new deals.
* Commercial awareness and a proactive approach.
* Strong decision-making and communication skills.
* Awareness of wider business impacts.
* Attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
* GCSE level education or equivalent.
* Experience in FCA-regulated environments and financial services roles.
* Excellent knowledge of loan, security, and financial documents.
