The Company
A well-established and highly respected refurbishment main contractor based near the Newport area is looking to appoint an Estimator to join their growing commercial team.
The business specialises in delivering high-end refurbishment and bespoke construction projects across commercial and government environments. Projects are typically fast-track, design-led refurbishments ranging from £100k to £1m and are delivered to an exceptionally high standard.

Estimator – The Role
This is a front-end commercial role focused on pricing and securing refurbishment projects before they move into delivery.
You will be responsible for reviewing enquiries, producing detailed and competitive estimates and supporting the directors in winning new work. Projects are typically fast-paced refurbishment schemes with programmes of around 6–8 weeks, so the ability to price efficiently and accurately is key.
You will work closely with directors and the wider commercial team throughout the tender process, building strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive and commercially sound submissions.
This role offers excellent exposure across the full tender lifecycle and provides a clear pathway to progress within the commercial team as the business continues to expand.
Estimator – Key Responsibilities
* Review tender enquiries, drawings and specifications
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for refurbishment and fitout projects
* Carry out take-offs and accurate measurement of works
* Obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations
* Build up labour, material and subcontractor pricing schedules
* Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering options within tenders
* Prepare tender submissions and pricing documentation
* Attend internal tender reviews with directors and senior management
* Support the commercial team during project handover to delivery teams
* Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
Estimator – The Person
* 3–5+ years’ experience estimating within construction
* Experience pricing refurbishment, fitout or fast-track construction projects
* Background with a main contractor or refurbishment specialist
* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with short project programmes
* Good communication skills and ability to work closely with directors and project teams
* Motivated to progress long-term within a successful and growing contractor
* Able to commute to the Newport office
