Senior Fabrication Technician – Manufacturing

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Fabrication Technician to play a key role in our Manufacturing team. You will directly support the Fabrication Supervisor in delivering assemblies to strict specifications and tight deadlines, ensuring quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across processes.
Working closely with the Principal Fabrication Technician, you will assist in producing specific sub-assemblies while developing your technical expertise and supervisory skills. This role offers the opportunity to support not only the Fabrication team but also cross-functional departments, making it an ideal position for someone eager to grow into future leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
* Define and implement manufacturing methods, fixtures, tooling, and timing estimates.
* Set up and operate departmental equipment and tooling to required standards.
* Specify and identify appropriate tooling for complex operations.
* Support machinery maintenance schedules and ensure equipment reliability.
* Assist in defining and applying quality inspection processes.
* Proactively identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
* Interpret engineering drawings and translate them into fabrication processes.
* Ensure responsibilities are covered during absence by delegating effectively.
* Solve problems independently within defined boundaries.
* Maintain departmental records (e.g., PDIs) and ensure compliance with procedures.
* Uphold health and safety standards and actively contribute to improvements.
* Support housekeeping to maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
* Contribute to business support activities (ERP, project structures, file management).
* Mentor and provide guidance to junior technicians or trainees when required.
* Build awareness of wider business processes to support growth into supervisory roles.

Qualifications & Experience
* Practical fabrication training (C&G or equivalent recognised qualification).
* 3+ years' automotive fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, spot welding of ferrous and non-ferrous materials).
* Engineering qualification or proven experience interpreting engineering drawings and 3D models.
* Knowledge of materials and fabrication processes.
* Experience in inspection and metrology.
