Operational Support Officer - Fines and Enforcement
Location: Southend-on-Sea, SS2 6EU
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5pm, Fridays 8:30am - 4:30pm
Pay: £12.86 per hour, rising to £13.25 at week 12
Contract: Until 31/08/2026 with a chance of extension
Working Pattern: Fully onsite
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an operational support office to join the fines and enforcement team within a respected government department. This is a fantastic opportunity to build experience in the public sector within a supportive and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Making outbound calls and responding to challenging/sensitive queries
* Processing administrative tasks including correspondence, write-offs, reports, and account checks
* Reviewing, managing and investigating enforcement cases
* Maintaining accurate records using in-house systems
* Data Entry
What We're Looking For
* Previous administration experience
* Strong customer service skills
* Good attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive or challenging queries professionally
* Willingness to learn and follow processes carefully
Additional Requirements
* Ability to provide three years of referencing information
* Willingness to undergo a Standard DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check through Brook Street
Full in-house training will be provided.
