Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in water and waste infrastructure to join our client-side delivery team, working specifically on Thames Water projects. This is a hands-on role, where you will be actively involved in the planning, coordination, and management of projects from concept to completion, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, on time, and within budget.
As a client-side Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in representing the client, overseeing contractors and consultants, and maintaining close involvement on site throughout project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the client’s representative in the delivery of Thames Water projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
* Manage all stages of the project lifecycle – feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
* Provide a visible, hands-on presence on site to monitor quality, compliance, and contractor performance.
* Develop and maintain project programmes, budgets, and risk registers.
* Lead stakeholder engagement with Thames Water, regulatory bodies, local authorities, and communities
* Ensure projects meet all statutory, environmental, and health & safety requirements.
* Produce and present clear progress reports to client leadership and stakeholders.
* Manage change proactively, resolve project issues, and mitigate risks.
* Champion best practice in sustainable water and waste management solutions.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience as a Project Manager in the water and/or waste sector, ideally with client-side delivery experience.
* Strong technical knowledge of water and waste infrastructure projects.
* Demonstrated ability to take a hands-on approach, with regular on-site involvement.
* Excellent project planning, financial control, and reporting skills.
* Familiarity with Severn Trent Water processes, standards, and governance is highly desirable.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Relevant professional qualifications (APM, PRINCE2, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or equivalent).
