Are you a motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a positive impact in a Year 5 classroom?
We are working with a lovely 2-form entry primary school in Peckham that is seeking a dedicated Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately for the summer term. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced TA who is passionate about supporting children, including pupils with SEN, and helping them thrive both academically and personally.
About the Role
As a Year 5 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils’ learning and development. The role will involve supporting children with additional needs, leading small-group interventions, and helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Your Responsibilities
Support pupils in a Year 5 class with their learning and development
Provide targeted SEN support to pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
Lead small-group intervention sessions in literacy and numeracy
Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
Help pupils stay engaged, focused, and motivated during lessons
Support pupils with routines, transitions, and positive behaviour strategies
Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and wider school staffWhat We’re Looking For
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grades 4–9)
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in a primary school
Experience supporting pupils with SEN is essential
Confidence leading small-group interventions
A positive, patient, and proactive approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
