The Opportunity

We have a permanent Engineer to join our Consulting Highways team in Perth.


The Role

As an Engineer you will provide support and assistance to a Team of people working within the Pavement and Asset Management Practice to deliver a portfolio of schemes for Clients. You will help design and deliver multiple projects, including pavement condition assessments and pavement renewal schemes, ensuring the durability and safety of our roadways.


Responsibilities

* Work in a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions, complying with relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior staff undertaking similar tasks.
* Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of scheme deliverables, ensuring quality, cost and programme criteria are met. Oversee junior staff and take responsibility for their actions.
* Assist on technical aspects of designs from project initiation through to completion. Review survey data to develop pavement maintenance and rehabilitation plans with senior engineers.
* Prepare technical reports, drawings and specifications for pavement projects.
* Promote effective health and safety practices within the team.
* Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.


What You Will Bring To Us

* Relevant experience in pavement design, including detailing surveys and producing drawings.
* Good understanding of Manual for Streets, DMRB, other national standards, best practice guidance, local standards, etc.
* Ability to work under minimum supervision and check the work of others; supervise less experienced or junior staff.
* Experience with AutoCAD and similar analytical tools.
* Good understanding of the CDM regulations and their relevance to highway design.
* Ability to work effectively in a team; deliver on time, within budget and to the required quality.
* Keep up to date with industry best practice and apply where appropriate within the team.
