Apply Now About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer (Civil) to join Balfour Beattys internal Rail Design Consultant, forming part of a multidisciplinary Design & Engineering organisation that encompasses Civil, P-Way & OLE Design. The role offers scope for an enthusiastic engineer to develop both technically and professionally in the rail environment with a Tier 1 contractor. Our work is broad and varied; from feasibility to detailed structural/geotechnical design for lineside equipment, bridges, and buildings to AFC stage. What you'll be doing As a Civil Design Engineer, you will have the following accountabilities: Undertake and deliver the design of structural and geotechnical permanent and temporary works projects in the rail environment from inception to design completion. Manage the delivery of engineering solutions through coordination with both internal and external stakeholders. Developing solutions with due consideration for health and safety, constructability, quality requirements, sustainability and diversity with the end user in mind. Engaging in the development of team capability through mentoring and supporting other. Prepare technical assurance documentation for engineering deliverables (e.g. Conceptual Design Statement, Network Rail Form C). Who we're looking for You will have the following: Must have a recognised BEng/MEng degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Candidates should be working towards membership of the I.C.E. or IStructE at Incorporated Engineer level or above. Experience in design and / or construction with the emphasis on railway structure design and maintenance. Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices. Must have a good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and how it impacts on the industry.
