Hill McGlynn is proud to be partnering with a leading fit-out construction company based in Whitstable, currently looking to recruit a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to support their specialist joinery division.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business delivering high-end commercial and interior fit-out projects. While previous joinery experience is beneficial, it is not essential — the role would also suit an experienced QS with a background working for subcontractors in fit-out or related trades.
The Role:
As Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial management of bespoke joinery packages across multiple projects. Working alongside project and production teams, you’ll ensure that works are delivered profitably, on time, and in line with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Commercial management of bespoke joinery packages within larger fit-out schemes
* Preparing and reviewing subcontractor packages, valuations, and variations
* Producing detailed cost reports and supporting monthly financial reviews
* Liaising with clients, site teams, and suppliers to ensure commercial objectives are met
* Managing contract documentation and ensuring contractual compliance
* Working with the commercial manager to drive value engineering where appropriate
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the fit-out, joinery, or subcontractor environment
* Strong understanding of project financials, cost control, and subcontractor management
* Joinery experience is a plus, but not essential for the right candidate
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills
* Ability to work independently while collaborating with wider project teams
* Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
