Mental Health Physiotherapist (Inpatient)

Go back Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHSFT

The closing date is 29 December 2025

We are seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Physiotherapist to join our inpatient services in North Lincolnshire, working across both working‑age and older adult wards. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering high‑quality physiotherapy to patients with varied and complex needs.

You will contribute to assessment, treatment planning, and rehabilitation, supporting patients to achieve their goals and promoting safe, effective discharge. Close collaboration with nursing, medical, and allied health colleagues is central to the role, ensuring holistic, patient‑centred care. It is an exciting time to join RDaSH, with major service developments underway for completion in late 2026. These include a new therapy gym, refurbishment of Mulberry Ward (Working Age), and refurbishment of Laurel Ward (Older Adult), all designed to enhance therapeutic environments and rehabilitation opportunities. Joining now means contributing to shaping future physiotherapy provision.

We welcome HCPC‑registered physiotherapists, including newly qualified applicants, who demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and a commitment to evidence‑based practice. An interest in mental health and working with both older and working‑age adults is essential.

* Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for adult and older adult inpatients, considering physical, psychological, and social factors.
* Plan, implement, and evaluate evidence‑based treatment programmes to promote mobility, independence, and wellbeing.
* Provide specialist advice on safe moving and handling, falls prevention, and rehabilitation strategies.

Multidisciplinary Team Working

* Work collaboratively with nursing, medical, and allied health colleagues to deliver holistic patient care.
* Participate in ward rounds, case conferences, and discharge planning meetings.
* Liaise with community services, social care, and carers to ensure safe and effective transitions of care.
* Educate patients and carers on physiotherapy techniques, exercise programmes, and self‑management strategies.
* Provide reassurance, motivation, and clear communication tailored to individual needs.

Service Development & Facilities

* Contribute to the ongoing development of physiotherapy services within inpatient wards.
* Engage with the planned new therapy gym and refurbished Mulberry Ward (Working Age) and Laurel Ward (Older Adult) facilities, supporting the integration of enhanced rehabilitation opportunities once completed in late 2026.
* Participate in audits, quality improvement projects, and service evaluation.
