Overview
This is a part time locum post for a Consultant Surgeon with a subspecialist interest in Breast Surgery at the Royal United Hospital Bath. This is a locum post to cover sickness.
Main duties
Clinical Duties: The holder of this post will be a Consultant Surgeon with a subspecialist interest in Breast Surgery. The job plan will be exclusively focused upon delivery of care through the breast unit with no commitment to general surgery. The post will be based at the RUH.
The post holder would be expected to collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care through the diagnostic process (in the symptomatic breast clinic), as well as throughout the surgical phase of treatment for those patients with breast cancer.
The expectation is to cover breast clinics incorporating new and follow up patients.
Consultants are required to undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients and the running of clinical areas where they work.
General requirements
Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, the post holder will be expected to observe the Trust\'s agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters and to follow the standing orders, financial instructions and code of expectations of the Trust.

This is a fixed term contract to start from 30 October 2025 for 12 months.
Person specification
Qualifications
* MB,ChB or equivalent
* Full Registration with a licence to practice with the GMC/GDC
* Completed subspecialist training In Breast Surgery
Experience
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST in relevant speciality.
* Ability to provide expert opinion in the diagnostic symptomatic breast clinic, to counsel patients appropriately with regards to their treatment options, to able to perform to a high standard relevant surgical procedures expected of a breast surgeon (ie lumpectomy, wide local excision, wire guided wide local excision, mastectomy, sentinel node biopsy and axillary node dissection).
