As Lead Principal UGC Engineer, you’ll play a central role in building a cleaner, more resilient energy network, working collaboratively with talented colleagues across SSEN Transmission. You’ll guide the development of standardised, future ready designs, encourage innovative thinking, and create an environment where people feel supported to do their best work. You Will Continue to be a hands&8209;on engineer, applying your technical expertise while providing thoughtful, trusted leadership across UGC projects. Support, empower and develop specialist engineers, nurturing a positive, inclusive team culture where people can grow and thrive. Bring teams together to navigate and resolve complex technical challenges through open dialogue and collaborative problem&8209;solving. Promote a caring approach to health, safety and environmental excellence, and uphold CDM, ESQCR and SSEN standards. Encourage creativity and continuous improvement, championing innovative ideas and representing SSEN Transmission across industry networks. You Have A strong background delivering impactful UGC engineering projects and guiding teams with empathy, clarity and confidence. A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) welcomed. Deep knowledge of UGC engineering, associated legislation and industry standards, paired with a thoughtful, pragmatic approach. Excellent communication and relationship&8209;building skills, with the ability to connect with others and explain complex ideas in a clear, supportive way. A collaborative mindset, a commitment to continuous learning, and a genuine passion for helping people and projects succeed.
