SEND Teaching Assistant (PDA Support) - Huddersfield
Are you a compassionate and resilient teaching assistant with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Huddersfield.
About the Role:
You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to support a child with a diagnosis of ASD with a PDA profile. Your role will focus on building trust and developing creative, low-demand strategies to reduce anxiety and encourage engagement in learning and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide consistent, person-centred 1:1 support within the classroom and other school settings
* Use low-demand and child-led approaches in line with best practice for PDA
* Develop positive relationships to support emotional regulation and reduce barriers to learning
* Collaborate with the wider SEND team to adapt learning materials and routines
* Monitor and report progress, challenges, and breakthroughs
