Salary Range:

The Seasonal Head Coach is responsible to instruct and work with the students athletes to prepare them for games and competitions. The Seasonal Head Coach helps student athletes to play their best individually or as a team in sports to include (but not limited to) cheer, cross country, golf, tennis, color guard, corn hole, chess, swim, track and field. They are experts on the rules, strategies, and techniques of their sports. The Seasonal Head Coaches must also know about sports equipment, physical fitness and safety. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of the sport.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
* Experience in specified sports area, preferred
* Proof of current First Aid and CPR certifications
* Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, or able to obtain upon employment
* Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
* Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
* Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development
* Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
* Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students at all times. Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
* Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
* Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student.
* Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program
* Coaches and instructs student athletes, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
* Conditions athletes with developmental and age appropriate activities that include endurance, strength, and agility
* Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competitiveness to all student-athletes
* Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards student athletes, officials, and spectators.
* Models non discriminatory practices in all activities.
* Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Must possess leadership skills, and be able to set an example for the players.
* Knowledge of how to apply basic first aid, maintain and utilize an athletic department assigned first aid kit, and complete an incident report for injuries or problems that occur at any athletic practices or games
* Excellent communication skills in order to inspire players and work with them on improvement.
* Must be available to work nights, holidays, evenings and weekends, and be prepared to work in bad weather and be willing to travel with the team to different locations for games.
* Effective coaching techniques and skills.
* Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
