Main duties of the job
The role involves delivering high-quality nursing care within a GP practice, including patient assessment, chronic disease management, cervical cytology and immunisations. The nurse will support infection control standards, perform clinical procedures such as wound care and ECGs, and contribute to hypertension management. Responsibilities also include supporting vaccination programmes (including flu campaigns), maintaining accurate clinical systems (e.g. EMIS), participating in audits and QoF targets, and working collaboratively with the wider clinical team. The role requires keeping up to date with NICE guidance and contributing to the development and review of nursing protocols to ensure safe, effective patient care.

Job responsibilities
Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse in deliveringhealth services. There may be, onoccasion, be a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependentupon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Support and on occasion lead with Infection Prevention Control(IPC) and work to the IPC policy
Consult with patients and their families to undertake assessments ofpatient need
Management of chronic disease
Cervical Cytology
Childhood Immunisation
Administer a range of adult vaccinations
Organise and support Practice Manager with the flu campaign
Wound care
ECGs
Actively participate in achieving QoF and enhanced servicestargets and recall demands
Understand EMIS and EMIS searches
Participate in practice audit as directed by the ClinicalLead/Practice Manager
Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
To be an instrumental part of the clinical team attend regularnurse meetings
Keep up to date with NICE guidelines as required
Develop, review andimplement nursing protocols in conjunction with the partners

* Mentor or teaching qualifications
* Family Planning qualification
Experience
* Experience of working within a nursing team
* Experience of working within a GP Practice.
