Therapy Assistant – Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Team
Job Summary
Integrated Discharge Team Therapy Assistant, Band 2 (with progression supported to Band 3 on completion of internal competencies). Monday to Friday 08:00 – 16:00 (30 min lunch). This position will not be supported for visa sponsorship. All applicants are expected to have a valid right to work document to work in the UK.
About the Team
Working within the Emergency Department and Acute Medical wards, the role involves supporting the collection of subjective information from patients and relatives, assisting assessments alongside qualified professionals and delivering care independently as delegated. Responsibilities include exercise programmes, issuing walking aids or other ADL aids, stair assessments, toilet/bed transfers and other therapy tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the delivery of treatment protocols and monitoring patient progress.
* Make minor alterations to patient treatment programmes as required.
* Report back to the Physiotherapist / Occupational Therapist regarding patient progress and any problems.
* Support in the preparation of assessments and the provision of therapy interventions.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of therapy activities.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
* Good spoken and written English; experience communicating with the general public.
* Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
* Computer skills – training in local systems will be provided.
* Friendly, flexible approach and ability to prioritise work.
* Previous experience working in the NHS or as a Therapy Assistant is desirable.
Person Specification
* Essential Qualifications/Training

o ECDL or equivalent level computer skills.
