An inclusive and diverse Specialist School is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to help support and encourage children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs through the school day. The pupils have a variety of difficulties, including but not limited to anxiety, learning difficulties, trauma, ASD, ADHD, OCD and behavioural challenges. The perfect candidate will be proactive, understanding and ready for a challenge.
Responsibilities
* Support and shadow the class teacher
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to SEN students
* Help run engaging lessons to make the classroom a fun, engaging and safe place
* Behavioural management, personal care and emotional support where necessary
Role Details
* Location: Trowbridge
* Salary: £85 - £100 per day
* Hours: Mon to Fri, 8:30am – 3:30pm
* Contract: Full-time, starting ASAP (flexibility if the perfect candidate applies)
Qualifications and Qualities
* Graduates in Psychology, Criminology or Health & Social Care are ideal
* General understanding of welfare and mental health is beneficial
* Proactive, empathetic, confident and able to use initiative
* Experience working with children with mental health needs is advantageous
