Job Responsibilities
* Provide specialist care in paediatric gastroenterology including outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations, including IBD, coeliac disease and complex nutrition.
* Provide support to local CAMHS services with nutrition-related disorders including eating disorders, ARFID and disordered eating.
* Have the opportunity to develop endoscopy skills and GI physiology skills.
* Participate in the 1 in 12 general paediatric on-call rota, provide support to the CAU and inpatient wards during service weeks.
* Engage in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement.
* Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* Participate in service development and innovation.
About Us
Staffordshire Children's Hospital is part of UHNM with two sites: Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford. Inpatient services for children are at Royal Stoke; outpatient clinics run at both sites. The Paediatric Department is one of the largest in the country with several subspecialty areas receiving tertiary referrals. The Trust has a purpose-built Children's Centre adjacent to the Child Development Centre. The Child Health Directorate provides a wide range of services including acute paediatrics, paediatric and neonatal intensive care, and community paediatrics. Essential Qualifications and Skills
* MRCPCH or equivalent higher qualification
* Fully registered with GMC
* APLS, EPALS or PALS provider
* MBChB/MBBS or equivalent
* SPIN Module in Paediatric Gastroenterology
Desirable Qualifications
* Further Higher Degree (e.g., MD, PhD)
* Level 3 safeguarding training
Clinical Experience
* Clinical training and experience in general paediatrics equivalent to UK requirements. CCT in paediatrics or existing Practising Consultant in General paediatrics.
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within general paediatrics
* Experience and understanding of using evidence-based medicine and clinical audit to support decision making
Management and Administrative Experience
* Ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and respond to service needs
* Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of paediatric service
* Good understanding of NHS structure and processes
* Experience and understanding of clinical audit
Teaching Experience
* Experience of supervising junior medical staff
* Ability and commitment to teach clinical skills
* Commitment to continuing medical education
* Experience teaching undergraduate medical students
Research Experience
* Ability to collect and submit data for collaborative studies as required
* Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical practice

* Good leadership and people management skills
