Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Rochester – On-site (work from home ½ day Friday)
Role Type: Permanent
Our client, an established aerospace & defence manufacturing firm in Rochester, requires an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary team.
Role Responsibilities:
* Prepare and present Mechanical Development Plans, Design Scheme Data Packs, and other engineering details for internal review and customer forums.
* Peer review work of other mechanical engineers, including designs, data, calculations, and reports.
* Chair design review panels at functional and project levels, both internally and with customers.
* Develop project plans, lead a team, and monitor progress, budgets, and resources.
* Support bids by preparing estimates and proposals.
* Conduct performance and development reviews, and contribute to salary reviews.
* Ensure adherence to departmental and company policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
* Proven product development experience from concept to production.
* Team leadership and project management experience.
* Experience with avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, electronics packaging, composites, additive manufacturing, testing, and measurement equipment is advantageous.
* Experience in preparing technical datasets (drawings/MBD).
* Proficiency with CAD tools (preferably CREO), and experience with TeamCenter, DOORs, and JIRA is beneficial.
