Head of Platforms & Infrastructure
£75,000 – £85,000 per annum
Remote-first (with occasional travel to Coventry)
We’re working with a fast-growing, award-winning higher education organisation that’s genuinely trying to do things differently. They’re heavily invested in digital, expanding quickly, and focused on making education more accessible and flexible through technology.
The IT team is around 65 people across infrastructure, development, operations, and security. It’s a collaborative setup where people work closely together, and there’s a strong track record of internal progression and development.
They’re now looking for a Head of Platforms & Infrastructure to take ownership of their cloud, infrastructure, and DevOps landscape.
This is a senior role where you’ll be setting direction but also staying close enough to the detail to make things happen. You’ll be responsible for AWS and Azure environments, driving a more modern DevOps approach, improving automation, and helping move more services into scalable, cloud-native platforms.
You’ll be working closely with engineering, security, and product teams to make sure everything connects properly across the estate and is secure, stable, and efficient. You’ll also lead a team and help raise the bar in terms of how platform engineering is done across the organisation. Day to day, it’s a mix of strategy and hands-on leadership across cloud, DevOps, and infrastructure.
What they’re looking for:
* Strong AWS experience (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, CloudFront, IAM, etc.)
* Azure / M365 experience
* Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, Amazon Linux)
* CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket, etc.)
* Terraform / infrastructure as code (AWS CDK also useful)
* Kubernetes / Docker / ECS
* Experience with cloud migrations
* Monitoring, logging, backup tooling (e.g. Veeam)
* Core infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, etc.)
* Networking (e.g. Cisco Meraki)
* General experience across modern application platforms (Apache, Nginx, MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ etc.)
They’re offering a salary of £75k–£85k, plus a strong benefits package including 30 days holiday + bank holidays + Christmas closure, good pension contributions, private medical options, health cash plan, and access to a range of discounts and perks. There’s also free access to courses for you, plus discounted learning for family and friends.
It’s a remote-first role with minimal travel to Coventry, and a genuinely good opportunity to step into a role where you can shape how platforms and infrastructure are done end-to-end.
If you’re interested apply directly and i will give you a call.
