Workshop Repair Technician – Mechanical & Hydraulic Systems Location: Bradford Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:45am – 4:15pm (39 hours per week) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience regular overtime The Role We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Workshop Repair Technician to join our clients busy and expanding engineering team in Bradford. This hands-on role involves the inspection, assessment, repair, and reassembly of a wide range of hydraulic and mechanical equipment including gearboxes, winches, hot blocks, hydraulic pumps and motors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy industry, plant machinery, HGV or crane maintenance, and be confident working with both mechanical and hydraulic systems. Key Responsibilities Strip, assess, and rebuild hydraulic and mechanical units such as gearboxes, winches, hot blocks, and hydraulic pumps/motors. Clean, inspect, and identify faults, wear, or defects in mechanical components. Repair or replace damaged components and reassemble equipment to manufacturer standards. Compile accurate inspection and test reports for internal records and customer reference. Lead or assist in the testing of hydraulic equipment on our in-house test rigs. Liaise with the Hydraulic Focal Point to help estimate and quote for service and repair work. Support efficient workshop operations through cost and method analysis. Occasionally perform on-site installation, removal, or commissioning work. Maintain a clean, safe working environment and comply with all relevant HSQE procedures. Communicate job progress and challenges effectively with supervisors and team members. Candidate Requirements Level 3 Mechanical Technician qualification (or equivalent). Minimum 5 years' industrial experience in a relevant mechanical/hydraulic fitting role. Completed apprenticeship or equivalent technical training. Sound understanding of hydraulic systems and their components. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Experience using workshop test equipment and inspection tools. Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality standards. IT literate with good communication and report-writing skills. A proactive, team-oriented mindset and willingness to lead when needed.
