About the Team
We have an established and well‑respected group of lawyers in our Property Liability Team who advise some of the UK's largest insurers and their underwriters on all classes of property damage claims and recoveries. The team handles multi‑million claims for fire, infrastructure damage, flood damage and subsidence under a full suite of property policies, including commercial combined cover, property owners’ risks and Construction All Risks cover. Our work involves advice on non‑disclosure, fair presentation of risk and breach of conditions.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage a varied and high‑value caseload of complex property damage, liability, and subrogated recovery matters.
* Provide strategic, commercially focused advice to major insurers, reinsurers, and corporate clients.
* Draft, review, and negotiate a range of legal documents and correspondence to progress matters efficiently.
* Supervise, mentor, and support junior lawyers and trainees within the team.
* Lead on client relationships, ensuring high‑quality service delivery and proactive case management.
* Contribute to business development initiatives, including pitches, presentations, and client training.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the firm’s international network to deliver integrated client solutions.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory, and market developments.
Required Experience & Skills
* Possess a 5+ PQE experience with admission as a solicitor in Scotland, holding a current practising certificate from the Law Society of Scotland.
* Strong technical knowledge of insurance law, coverage issues, and dispute resolution processes.
* Proven ability to manage a complex, high‑volume caseload with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrated experience acting for insurers, reinsurers, or large commercial clients.
* Excellent drafting skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and commercially focused legal documents.
* Strong advocacy, negotiation, and analytical skills.
* Experience supervising, mentoring, or developing junior fee‑earners.
* Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships with a focus on service excellence.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
* A collaborative working style with the ability to operate effectively within a busy, high‑performing team.
* Strong business development awareness and a proactive approach to contributing to team and firm growth.
