SEND Teacher - KS2 Primary – Trafford – Step Teachers
Start: January 2026 (or earlier if available)
Pay: up to £240/day DOE for first 12 weeks, MPS + SEN1 from 13th week.
Hours: Full-time | Mon–Fri | 8:30am–3:30pm
Contract: Temp-to-Perm
This inclusive special needs primary school caters to children aged 3 to 11 who have a range of learning difficulties and associated needs such as autism, physical challenges or sensory impairments. The staff — which includes speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, musicians, artists and sports leaders — work collaboratively to deliver personalised learning journeys and engaging experiences tailored to each child. With access to specialist facilities like a hydrotherapy pool, soft-play area and sensory spaces alongside outdoor learning environments, every pupil is supported to achieve their potential. As a SEND Teacher, you will lead a KS2 class of 10 pupils where you will plan and deliver an engaging, accessible curriculum tailored to the individual learning profiles of your students. Most of the children are pre-verbal and have complex sensory & behaviour needs. You will support their academic progress whilst focusing also on communication, social skills, independence and wellbeing. You’ll be part of a skilled team, working with experienced assistants, and collaborating with families to ensure consistency and high expectations across all areas of learning.
What you’ll need to succeed:
* QTS or equivalent (not suitable for ECTs)
* Experience working in SEND settings (primary or secondary)
* Strong skills in differentiating curriculum, and designing imaginative lessons to meet a wide range of needs
* Excellent communication and relationship-building with pupils, staff and parents/carers
* Commitment to continuous professional development and willingness to innovate

* QTS, QTLS or overseas equivalent (not suitable for ECTs)
* Enhanced DBS in place (or willing to obtain)
* Professional references covering the last 2 years
* Right to work in the UK
