We're supporting an investment company focused on advancing research into new treatments, in their search for a Group Accountant to join their high-performing finance team in central London. This role offers the opportunity to work within a fast-growing, regulated investment business, supporting high-quality financial reporting while helping to evolve systems, processes, and controls as the organisation scales.
This role will suit someone who enjoys operating in a complex, regulated environment - someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and motivated by taking ownership and driving continuous improvement.
The role
Reporting to the Group Accounting and Reporting Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across the group, while supporting audit, valuation, and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the production of the Annual Report, Interim accounts, and Quarterly reporting, including liaison with Investor Relations
* Acting as the primary point of contact for the external audit
* Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts across group entities
* Preparing monthly NAV and management accounts
* Supporting Board and Audit Committee reporting
* Preparing valuation materials and liaising with external valuation advisers
* Drafting accounting memos where required
* Processing invoices, payroll, accruals, and prepayments
* Supporting FCA regulatory compliance and reporting
* Strengthening controls and improving finance processes
* Assisting with treasury activities, including cashflow forecasting and liquidity management
* Supporting ad hoc projects as required
About you
We're looking for a chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong technical accounting foundation and a proactive, hands-on approach.
You'll bring:
* 2-4 years' post-qualified experience, ideally Big 4 trained
* Strong experience across IFRS and UK GAAP
* Excellent attention to detail and technical capability
* Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
* The ability to build effective stakeholder relationships
* A continuous improvement mindset and strong communication skills
Experience in venture capital, private equity, listed companies, or life sciences would be advantageous but is not essential.
