A leading international law firm is looking for a Head of Conflicts to join their Risk & Compliance Team in London.
The Head of Conflicts is senior leadership role where you will work closely with senior partners, the Risk leadership team, and business intake professionals. You will act as the primary escalation point for complex conflict issues and will drive the firm’s strategic approach to conflicts management.
Key Responsibilities for the Head of Conflicts role:
* Lead, mentor, and develop the Conflicts Lawyers and Analysts across the UK and EMEA, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
* Serve as the senior escalation point for complex and sensitive conflict matters, providing expert judgment and practical solutions.
* Review and advise on conflict reports for new client matters, lateral hires, and firm-wide initiatives.
* Contribute to strategic projects such as mergers, new office openings, or group lateral moves, ensuring conflicts and regulatory considerations are fully addressed.
* Ensure adherence to the SRA Code of Conduct and other applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
* Develop, maintain, and enhance the firm’s conflicts policies and procedures in line with best practice and evolving regulation.
* Support the wider Risk leadership team in aligning conflicts management with the firm’s global compliance framework.
* Act as a trusted adviser to partners, senior management, and business services leaders on conflict issues and risk management.
* Deliver training sessions for partners, lawyers, and business teams on conflicts awareness and compliance obligations.
Skills and Experience:
* Extensive experience in conflicts of interest or risk management within an international law firm.
* Strong knowledge of professional conduct rules.
* Proven track record in managing a conflicts team and providing leadership in a complex, global environment.
* Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of influencing senior lawyers and leadership.
