I’m working with a highly respected building services contractor in Belfast who are looking to strengthen theirmercial team with a Junior Electrical Estimator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years’ experience in estimating or an electrical/building services background who’s keen to develop a long‑term career in pre‑construction. You’ll be joining an experienced estimating team and will gain exposure to a wide range of high-end electrical projects including design & build tenders, fully designed schemes and early‑stage cost plans.
Your new role
As a Junior Electrical Estimator, you’ll support the preparation ofpetitive, accurate tenders while developing your technical andmercial skills. Day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the estimating team with electrical take‑offs from drawings and specifications, using your electrical/building services knowledge to ensure accurate quantities.
2. Assisting with tenders from initial enquiry through to handover, taking ownership of smaller packages under senior guidance.
3. Sending enquiries to electrical subcontractors and suppliers, chasing quotations, and helping collate pricing information into tender documents.
4. Helping preparemercial schedules, including rates, tender breakdowns and cost summaries.
5. Highlighting any value‑engineering ideas, design gaps or potential risks you identify during reviews, passing them to senior estimators for discussion.
6. Supporting the development of strong client and supplier relationships, representing the estimating function professionally.
7. Ensuring all documentation is accurate and organised, and maintaining goodmunication with the wider team throughout the tender process.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will bring:
8. 1–2 years’ experience in an electrical estimating role, or an electrical/building services background with exposure to the tendering process.
9. Hold an electrical trades qualification or a building services–related qualification
10. Strong attention to detail and good numerical ability.
11. Excellentmunication skills and confidence liaising with suppliers and clients.
12. A proactive, professional approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
13. The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines within a busy estimating team.
