This opportunity is with a specialist engineering business operating within the low voltage electrical sector, delivering technical solutions across control panels, power distribution units, low voltage switchgear, and associated electrical systems. The business supports customers across industrial and technical engineering environments, providing bespoke solutions, project delivery, and ongoing commercial support.
Due to continued growth, the business is looking to appoint a Commercial Manager to work closely with the Director and play a key role in driving commercial expansion within the electrical engineering market.
The Opportunity
This role is focused on developing and growing the company's presence within the low voltage electrical and power distribution sector. The successful candidate will bring strong commercial and business development capability alongside a proven understanding of electrical engineering products and solutions.
You will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, developing customer relationships, and supporting the continued growth of the business across markets involving control panels, LV switchgear, power distribution systems, and electrical infrastructure.
This position requires someone who understands the industry technically and commercially, and who can confidently engage with customers, contractors, consultants, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the low voltage electrical sector
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers operating across industrial, manufacturing, utilities, infrastructure, and engineering markets
3. Support the Director in driving commercial growth and expanding market presence
4. Develop opportunities relating to control panels, LV switchgear, power distribution units, MCCs, and associated electrical systems
5. Prepare and manage proposals, quotations, tenders, and commercial agreements
6. Lead commercial discussions and negotiations with customers and stakeholders
7. Develop account growth strategies and identify opportunities for repeat business
8. Work closely with engineering and technical teams to ensure customer requirements are delivered effectively
9. Monitor market activity, competitor positioning, and industry developments within the electrical sector
10. Represent the business at customer meetings, industry events, and networking activities
11. Support long-term commercial planning and strategic growth initiatives
Requirements
12. Previous experience within a Commercial Manager, Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, or similar commercial role within the electrical engineering sector
13. Strong background within low voltage electrical systems, ideally involving control panels, power distribution units, LV switchgear, MCCs, or electrical infrastructure
14. Proven experience developing business within electrical, industrial, or technical engineering environments
15. Strong technical understanding of electrical products and solutions
16. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders
17. Experience managing customer relationships, commercial negotiations, and tender processes
18. Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and secure growth opportunities
19. Proactive, hands-on, and commercially driven approach
20. Stable career background with evidence of delivering long-term commercial impact would be advantageous
