This role is subject to:
* 2 references, preferably holding a 3‑year history.
* The successful candidate should ideally hold a full clean driving licence; if the candidate drives, they must provide their own car for work and obtain the required documents. A casual car allowance will be paid per mile.
What You’ll Do
* Assess sites for future programme inclusion.
* Supervise contractors daily to uphold safety and quality.
* Manage day‑to‑day site issues as they arise.
* Investigate complaints linked to works.
* Keep accurate site records and report progress.
* Inspect completed works and identify remedial needs.
* Collaborate with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders to support smooth programme delivery.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Hands‑on experience in Highway Construction and Maintenance.
* Knowledge of carriageway & footway resurfacing and preventative treatments (Micro Surfacing/Slurry Seal/Surface Dressing).
* Understanding of permits, public notices and general highway works processes.
* Ability to read or create simple drawings or marked‑up plans.
* Full UK driving licence and ability to travel across the city.
Desirable
* Understanding of Greater Manchester network operations (TfGM, UTC).
* ONC/HNC in Highway or Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
* Recognised CAD qualification or a willingness to work towards one.
