We conduct observational research and deliver clinical trials of new treatments for a range of neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease. We foster the rapid translation of research into practice (bench to bedside). Overview We are seeking a fixed term (12 months) Clinical Support Worker (Clinical and IONA Sports) to provide support across the research delivery team, assisting with protocol assessments, clinical administration, and recruitment activities. The Clinical Support Worker (Clinical and IONA Sports) will work closely with the Clinical Research Coordinator - Cognition to increase capacity within the team for participant facing activities. Their work will principally focus on the IONA Sports project and the Clinical Services adjacent to IONA Cohorts. Some of what you’ll be doing Supporting clinical research study activities, including: o Informed consent (on completion of Informed Consent training & competency) o Sample collection (on completion of venepuncture training & competency) o Sample processing (on completion of laboratory training & competency) o Vital signs and body anthropometry o Medical history and current medication recording o Lifestyle risk factors interviews o Delivery of cognitive scales Clinical administrative duties including, but not limited to: o GP letters o Incidental findings reports to participants and GPs o Data entry o Filing medical information and lab reports o Preparing referrals to the SBS Brain Health Clinic from IONA data Recruitment support including emails and phone calls to prospective participants to explain a range of study opportunities and triage questions as required. The skills, experience, and qualifications you’ll bring: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant life sciences subject Competent (or willing and able to gain a competency in) venepuncture and sample processing Experience at communicating with patients or the public Familiarity with documenting medical information Good organisational skills Excellent computer literacy Even better if you have: Previous experience in a research environment Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
