We are looking for Children's Support Workers/Carers for full time/part time days/waking nights, who care about making every moment matter for the children and young people we support. To provide safe, person-centred and nurturing support to children and young people with autism, learning disabilities, and other additional needs. The role involves supporting individuals who may display behaviours that challenge, helping them to develop independence, communication, confidence and life skills, whilst ensuring their wellbeing, dignity and rights are upheld at all times.
You will support children and young people to access meaningful activities, engage positively with their home/community environment, and follow structured routines and behavioural support plans to reduce distress and promote positive outcomes.

To be successful in the Children's Support Worker role, you will not necessarily need experience in childcare as all staff undergo a training programme and will be continuously supported by the management team. Ideally, you will:
* Hold or be willing to work towards a QCF Level 2 IN Health & Social Care (or equivalent)
* Have previous experience of supporting children and young people with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Challenging behaviour and other needs.

Key responsibilities include:
* Providing practical assistance and emotional support to empower our young people to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone's individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans.
* Complete a range of records and documents.
* Promote the health, well-being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people supported and ensure they are met in an inclusive way.
* Facilitating social, educational and play or recreational activities of their choice. Supporting them to maintain contact with families or significant others is a key priority.
* The role requires you to undertake all aspects of day to day household tasks such as cleaning, cooking and shopping. Our young people also need to be supported to manage their personal care and hygiene.
* Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately in line with organisational policy and relevant legislation, ensuring the welfare of children and young people remains the highest priority.
* Support children and young people who may present with autism, learning disabilities and other additional needs, including behaviours that challenge. You will be expected to work in a calm, consistent and supportive way, using de-escalation techniques and agreed behavioural strategies to reduce distress and promote positive outcomes.
