The Opportunity

HMx Labs is a specialist compute and data consultancy operating at the sharp end of High Performance Computing (HPC), cloud infrastructure, and enterprise data management. Our clients include some of the largest financial institutions in the world, and we're expanding into engineering, motorsport, and beyond.


We're a small, expert team — and we intend to stay that way. We don't chase funding rounds or maximise shareholder value. We do the right thing by our clients, our people, and our partners. That independence is our edge, and it's what makes us genuinely trusted advisors to the organisations we work with.


This is a rare opportunity to join us as our first dedicated commercial hire — a pivotal, high-ownership role that will define how HMx Labs is perceived, discovered, and chosen by the world's leading organisations.



What You'll Be Doing

This is a broad, strategic role where no two weeks will look the same. You'll work directly with the founding team to:

* Build our commercial engine from the ground up — developing a sales pipeline, refining our go-to-market approach, and turning inbound interest into long-term client relationships.
* Grow revenue from our existing client base — deepening relationships with current clients and identifying new opportunities within those accounts.
* Lead all marketing and brand activity — shaping how HMx Labs presents itself to the market, from our digital presence and content strategy to thought leadership, events, and outreach.
* Open new verticals — we're strongest in financial services, but there's real appetite to grow in engineering, technology, and other compute-intensive industries. You'll help lead that expansion.
* Feed insights back into the business — your conversations with clients and prospects will directly influence our product and service development. You'll have a real voice in what we build next.



Who We're Looking For

You don't need to be an engineer. You do need to be commercially sharp, intellectually curious about technology, and comfortable holding your own in conversations with senior technical and business stakeholders at large enterprises. We’re looking for someone that is extroverted, outgoing and enjoys building relationships.

You don’t have to hit all of the points below, but here’s our wish list:

You'll ideally have:

* A proven track record in B2B sales and/or marketing, ideally selling technology services or solutions to large corporations.
* Experience navigating complex, consultative sales cycles with long lead times and multiple stakeholders.
* An instinct for brand and messaging — you understand what makes a niche technical company compelling to a non-technical buyer.
* The confidence to work autonomously and the judgement to know when to bring others in.
* Familiarity with the technology landscape — you don't need to write code, but you should be able to speak credibly about HPC, cloud, infrastructure, or data at a business level. If you’re technically minded but not familiar with these domains we’re happy for you to learn on the job.

Bonus points for:

* Experience selling into financial services, engineering, pharmaceuticals or other regulated/technical industries.
* Familiarity with HPC, cloud computing, or data platforms.
* Experience at an early-stage or boutique consultancy where you've had to build processes as well as execute them.

* Location: London, UK. Primarily in-office with flexibility for remote working. You must be London based.
