An exciting opportunity has arisen for one substantive post of Clinical Charge Nurse (Band 6) in our forensic directorate, which holds eight wards: two Acute male admission wards, three male rehabilitation pathway wards, two male low‑secure wards and one female low‑secure ward.
As a Trauma‑Informed Service, we are looking for a dynamic, compassionate, and self‑reflective individual with strong clinical skills to support the Clinical Team Leader in delivering high‑quality care. Nursing, therapeutic and relational skills will help patients and staff feel safe, listened to, valued, engaged, and empowered.
We welcome applications from staff already on the NMC register with relevant experience. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team involved in the delivery of care and therapy for our patients. The post operates on a shift rota system, including weekends, nights and the duty senior nurse role, and includes staff induction, in‑house training, frequent supervision and personal development reviews.
Responsibilities
* Work in collaboration with clinicians to review patients’ physical health needs.
* Develop services that meet patient needs by delivering an agreed strategy for healthcare.
* Work with medical and nursing staff to ensure the team assesses and escalates patients in line with the physical healthcare policy.
* Develop and maintain Standard Operational Procedures for the clozapine clinic, updating as necessary, ensuring the service remains evidence‑based.
* Assist in completing audits to check compliance with policies and advise on action plans arising from findings.
* Support students within the clinical areas in relation to physical healthcare.
You will be supported to develop your clinical and managerial leadership skills and to recognise the impacts of adverse and traumatic experiences on patients and staff. You will be motivated to support all staff, patients, and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by creating a psychologically safe environment.
