A little more about your role
As an Associate based in our Leeds office, you will provide technical leadership to our design teams, using your knowledge and skills to deliver quality work on time and within budget. You will lead design teams, mentor, and support junior team members.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Providing technical leadership on civil engineering and highway design projects in the UK and overseas.
2. Acting as a Project Manager, undertaking project reviews, and coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs.
3. Managing resources and team members at the project level.
4. Agreeing on fees and managing project finances.
5. Promoting a culture of technical review and challenge.
6. Developing client relationships to support sustainable goals and future-proof developments.
7. Leading and contributing to tenders and bids.
8. Supervising and mentoring junior team members.
9. Supporting regional and office leadership, as well as business development.
10. Collaborating with the wider Planning and Development teams to achieve organizational goals.
The Development Team is a well-established part of the Planning and Development discipline, focusing on project delivery across the entire project lifecycle.

We assist clients in promoting, implementing, and managing sustainable development, from pre-feasibility to planning and scheme implementation.
Our clients include public and private sector land promoters, house builders, developers, architects, government, and local authorities. Our multidisciplinary services primarily involve civil engineering and highways design, with experience in utilities, energy planning, drainage, earthworks, and strategic planning.
This role offers a pivotal opportunity to support and steer the growth of our Development team.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
* MEng / BEng / BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering or related field, with experience in development projects.
* Chartered or Incorporated status with a relevant professional body (desirable).
* Experience in civil engineering and multidisciplinary projects, especially highways.
* Knowledge of industry standards like DMRB, Specification for Highway Works, and Manual for Streets.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civils 3D or similar software, with 2D and 3D capabilities.
* Experience in project management and financial control.
* Business development skills and a track record of delivering new opportunities.
* Leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to motivate, develop, and lead change within teams.
* Passion for mentoring and sharing knowledge.
* Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
* Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
* Eligibility for UK Security Check (SC) is preferred.
