Overview
This position is a Health Improvement Advisor within Derbyshire County Council's dynamic and growing service, supporting people addicted to tobacco and other health behaviours.
Responsibilities
* Deliver individual support to enable behaviour change in smoking cessation, weight management or physical activity.
* Work independently and promote partnership working with local community groups.
* Navigate IT systems and maintain high quality data.
* Facilitate training sessions and lead group work where appropriate.
Qualifications – Essential
* Level 2 qualification in Understanding Health Improvement, or willingness to undertake within 6 months of starting.
* Level 3 Smoking Cessation Training, or willingness to undertake within 6 months of starting (smoking cessation only).
* Level 4 Obesity and Diabetes Management, or Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity (for weight‑management group advisors) or willingness to undertake within 6 months of starting.
* YMCA FIT Diploma in Exercise Referral, or equivalent such as Wright Foundation Exercise Referral (for PA advisors) or willingness to undertake within 6 months of starting.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Level 3 Smoking Cessation Training
* Level 4 Obesity and Diabetes Management
* Childhood obesity and prevention qualification.
Experience – Essential
* Experience of delivering support that enables people to make a behaviour change.
* Experience working with individuals, including vulnerable groups, within local communities.
* Experience devising and delivering lifestyle interventions (smoking cessation, weight management or physical activity).
* Experience delivering training and facilitating group work.
Experience – Desirable
* Experience delivering behaviour change interventions in group settings such as weight management, smoking cessation or wellbeing support.
* Experience working with families and children.
