We are recruiting a fixed‑term role (up to 2 years) for a senior advisor who has experience working in or regulating the energy sectors, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
Responsibilities
 * Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance and training.
 * Develop strategy for our sectors and produce the tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
 * Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
 * Work with internal and external stakeholders such as Defra, DESNZ, internal operations teams, trade associations and other key industry players.
 * Respond to incidents and provide business continuity support during an incident.
Team
 * Lead on the definition of standards for our sectors, providing strategic direction and tools in support of regulation of the energy sectors.
 * Provide guidance and training to deliver new duties.
 * Promote environmental best practice.
Experience / Skills Required
 * Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues.
 * Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge, including experience of work in or regulating the energy sector, and knowledge of control measures for emissions to air.
 * Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
 * Work cooperatively as part of a team to achieve common goals.

Key Dates
This vacancy closes at the end of October. Interviews are expected to be held in person in Birmingham by the end of November. Some travel may be required.
