A leading law firm in Manchester City Centre is currently looking for a Paralegal to join their Court of Protection team. The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of experience within COP.
The role will involve:
1. Carrying out work on a broad range of deputyship and some personal injury trust matters, arising from both personal injury and clinical negligence, as well as from the OPG panel and local authority.
2. Handling Grade D and/or Grade C work within a sub-team of 6, supporting 3 file handlers (along with other paralegals) with their cases.
3. Maintaining day-to-day contact with clients, addressing their lifestyle requirements, providing practical advice, and supporting their needs on issues including financial planning, management of funds and assets, and care arrangements.
4. Collaborating with families, professional advisers, social services, local authorities, care providers, government bodies, benefits agencies, financial institutions, and other professionals.
5. Making regular payments to clients and third parties, keeping accurate schedules of income and expenditure, forecasting future spending, and creating and maintaining budgets.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
* A commitment to excellent client care and enthusiasm for Court of Protection work.
* Excellent IT skills, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written, including direct client interaction when required.
* Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
* Numeracy skills and a strong team ethic.
* Effective administrative skills.
