Overview
This post holder will work at our Saints Central location in Nuneaton, whilst also partnering with the local college and parish church, to bring about positive community transformation that benefits young people between the ages of 11 - 18. Saints Central launched the Saints Student Lounge program in 2021 to support young people with access to a safe place to receive assisted study, eat and engage in fun educational workshops. We will expand our Student Lounge by partnering with a local college and St Nicholas Parish Church during term time and school holidays.
Responsibilities
* Support the Student Lounge project at Saints Central, including administrative duties (budget control, quality assurance, session planning and evaluation, record keeping, risk assessments, safeguarding and health and safety) in line with funding agreements.
* Support the running of the Student Lounge program at King Edward VI College to provide a safe space for young people with games, activities and focused workshops throughout the week during term time.
* Work with St Nicholas Parish Church to connect young people with the church through Christian youth activities, school holiday programmes and focused projects (e.g., youth alpha and Christian social justice projects).
* Develop positive, professional relationships with young people and make regular contact to identify and assess their social and informal educational needs.
* Support a programme of activities, facilities and opportunities to meet social and informal education needs of young people.
* Promote and encourage young people to plan and participate in activities to empower them, individually or collectively, and to take responsibility for their lives; signpost to other agencies such as the Children’s Society based at Saints Central.
* Maintain quality of youth work in sessions and ensure the property is protected and behaviour policies are adhered to.
* Work with the Youth Project Lead, King Edward VI College and St Nicholas Church to provide regular feedback on the project’s successes and difficulties.
* Attend and support staff planning meetings and contribute to effective programme planning, preparation and evaluation of youth work.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 in Youth Work, or be prepared to work towards a relevant youth work qualification.
* Relevant experience in assisting in the delivery of youth work.
* Knowledge of issues facing young people generally.
* Ability to form and sustain positive relationships with young people and staff members.
* Ability to plan (with others) and deliver small-scale events/activities/workshops.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Creative and innovative; demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment; desire to work with young people.

Additional notes: This post is subject to enhanced DBS disclosure and completion of a confidential declaration form. The role requires (schedule 9 part 1 of the Equality Act 2010) for the post holder to be a committed Christian.
Salary and Benefits
£5,460 per annum plus 9% Employer Pension Contributions (£27,300 FTE equivalent).
