Sunny Accountants is a modern, growing accountancy practice based in Sutton in Ashfield, working primarily with owner-managed businesses across Nottinghamshire and beyond.
We provide accounts, tax, VAT, bookkeeping and advisory services to a wide range of SMEs, with a strong focus on practical advice, responsiveness and long-term client relationships. Much of our growth has come through referrals and reputation, and we continue to attract new clients looking for proactive support rather than purely compliance-based accountancy services.
We are a cloud-based firm using systems including QuickBooks, Xero and digital workflow software, while still maintaining a personal and approachable service. Our team works closely together in a fast-paced environment where people are expected to take ownership of their work and deal directly with clients.
Unlike larger firms, team members are given genuine responsibility and exposure across multiple areas of practice. We offer a genuine 4-day working week and are continuing to invest in the long-term growth of the firm and the people within it.
Role Description
We are looking for a Client Manager with solid UK accountancy practice experience to join our growing team.
This is a hands‑on role managing a portfolio of owner‑managed business clients across a wide variety of sectors. The role combines client management, accounts and tax review work, advisory support and some hands‑on preparation work where required.
The successful candidate will become a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring work is delivered accurately and on time. This is not a purely technical or back‑office role. We are looking for someone commercially aware, organised and confident communicating directly with business owners.
The position offers genuine responsibility and autonomy within a growing practice, with exposure across multiple areas of accountancy and tax.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a portfolio of limited company, sole trader and partnership clients
* Reviewing statutory accounts, VAT returns and tax compliance work
* Preparing accounts and tax work where required
* Acting as a main point of contact for client queries and advice
* Managing workflow and deadlines across a portfolio
* Supporting and reviewing junior team members’ work
* Identifying opportunities to improve client service and efficiency
* Assisting clients with cloud accounting software including QuickBooks and Xero
Requirements:
* Strong UK accountancy practice background
* ACCA / ACA qualified or qualified by experience
* Experience managing client relationships independently
* Solid knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT and corporation tax
* Good organisational and communication skills
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
* Able to work 4 days per week office-based in Sutton in Ashfield
We offer a genuine 4-day working week, direct client exposure, modern systems and the opportunity to play a key role within a growing and ambitious accountancy practice.
