Lead Engineering Operations Manager / Permanent Role / Peterborough / Salary £65,000 + Excellent Benefits / Hybrid Working
NC Associates are working exclusively with a long-established PLC organisation seeking to recruit a Lead Engineering Operations Manager.
Working as an integral part of the UK & Ireland Region service team, the Lead Engineering Operations Manager will provide strong leadership of the service teams in the region, serving as a role model for safety and delivering effective financial management.
This role requires strong commercial acumen, leadership skills to drive success through the team, and a customer-focused approach. The manager will ensure all service activities are completed within specified timeframes and quality standards.
Responsibilities
1. Overall responsibility for QHSE in your service area, implementing regulations to ensure compliance.
2. Role model behaviors and actively promote safety and safe working practices.
3. Financial and commercial performance of your service area, including budget planning and performance reporting.
4. Driving and reporting on KPIs to meet all requirements.
5. Operational performance management in the service area, managing stock levels and inventory.
6. Providing leadership to site teams, delegating effectively, and reviewing team performance.
7. Recruitment and development of service employees, identifying training needs.
8. Creating staffing plans and analyzing operational data to monitor performance.
9. Ensuring quality standards are met and acting as a role model for quality.
10. Managing site safety audits and reporting.
11. Overseeing site facilities management and large operations (e.g., gearbox exchange).
12. Managing customer operational topics and ensuring effective communication.
13. Reviewing reports on maintenance, HSE, and timekeeping, ensuring timely submissions.
14. Monitoring employee time tracking to ensure compliance and accurate payroll data.
15. Collaborating with local project management and other initiatives to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
Experience and Skills Required
* Leadership experience, preferably in mechanical or electrical engineering roles.
* Relevant experience or apprenticeship in engineering.
* Knowledge of financial controls, KPI management, and budgeting.
* Experience managing remote field-based teams.
* Proficiency in MS Office and workload management systems (SAP).
* Experience dealing with complex businesses, matrix organizations preferred.
* Customer-focused approach, decision-making, planning, and prioritization skills.
* Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
* Flexibility, adaptability, and systematic working approach.
* Strong team working, collaboration, and delegation skills.
* Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel regularly, including nights away.
