The Role

Were looking for a Technical Product Owner (TPO) to take ownership of our SAP SuccessFactors product landscape across the full HCM suite - including Employee Central, Recruitment, Onboarding, Learning, Payroll and Succession.

This is not a configuration role.
This is a technology-led product role.

Youll sit at the intersection of business, technology and delivery, owning how the platform evolves, scales and delivers value across the organisation. Youll translate complex SAP capabilities and constraints into clear, actionable outcomes - and ensure the team delivers against them.

Youll act as the bridge between what the business needs and how we deliver it.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product & Technology Ownership
2. Own the end-to-end SuccessFactors product landscape, ensuring it delivers measurable business value
3. Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap, balancing new features, platform stability and technical debt
4. Work closely with architects to shape solution design, environments and route to live
5. Understand and articulate system constraints, integrations and downstream impacts
6. Technical Leadership (without hands-on config)

Demonstrate strong understanding of:

7. System architecture
8. Non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, resilience)
9. Integration patterns and dependencies
10. Act as a credible voice with engineering teams, challenging and guiding decisions
11. Translate technical complexity into clear business language

Agile Delivery & Backlog Ownership

Own and prioritise the product backlog based on business value

Define clear acceptance criteria and success measures

Support teams in breaking down work into deliverable, outcome-focused stories

Drive best practice in:

12. Sprint planning
13. Backlog refinement
14. Managing enablers and technical debt

Stakeholder Management & Communication

15. Build strong relationships across HR, Payroll, Technology and Transformation teams
16. Act as a translator between business and tech, simplifying SAP complexity

Clearly communicate:

17. Trade-offs
18. Limitations
19. Risks and workarounds
20. Challenge stakeholders constructively to ensure focus on value over output

Leadership & Team Enablement

21. Provide leadership to a team including System Analysts / BAs (direct or matrix)
22. Create an environment where teams:

25. Continuously improve ways of working
26. Drive a culture of ownership, collaboration and accountability

Data-Driven Decision Making

27. Define and track product success metrics and KPIs
28. Use sprint and delivery data to:
29. Identify improvement opportunities
30. Inform prioritisation decisions

What Were Looking For:

Core Experience

31. Experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Owner or Technical BA within SAP SuccessFactors
32. Strong understanding of SAP SuccessFactors modules (e.g. EC, Recruitment, Onboarding, Payroll, Learning, Succession)
33. Proven experience working in Agile delivery environments

Technical Capability

Strong understanding of:

34. System architecture and integrations
35. Environments and release processes
36. Non-functional requirements
37. Ability to engage deeply with engineers and architects without needing to configure the system

Product & Delivery Expertise

38. Experience managing backlogs, roadmaps and prioritisation frameworks
39. Comfortable balancing features vs stability vs technical debt
40. Focus on outcomes over outputs, with clear success measurement

Stakeholder & Communication Skills

41. Able to confidently engage with both:
42. Senior business stakeholders
43. Technical teams
44. Strong ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, practical language

Leadership Mindset

Natural leader who can:

46. Improve team ways of working
47. Comfortable operating in ambiguity and making decisions

Desirable

Background in:

49. System Analysis

30-minute initial screening call

90-minute formal interview (deep dive, including scenario-based discussion)
